oakland. he has been watching the protests throughout the evening. dan? >> reporter: right now, we are at 14th and broadway. the protesters are a block down at telegraph and broadway. the police are keeping a much closer eye on them. they have taken a hands off approach earlier in the evening so much so that some have thought it was too much and too hands off. the marching orders for the protesters were clear. march wherever you want. and they did. marching orders for oakland police, not so clear. either unprepared or taking a hands off approach, they allowed protester to get on and shut down i-880 for several minutes around 7:00 p.m. >> although we haven't increased our staffing and we haven't brought in additional resourcers, it is hard to take

charge of 100 people. >> reporter: with dusk giving way tonight. the protesters headed to the freeway again. in this occasion, i-580. this time, protesters didn't make it on the freeway because by now, oakland police asked for the highway patrol's help. something they had not done at the beginning of the evening. >> black white suppression! no justice! no peace! >> reporter: the evening began at frank ogawa plaza. people gathered for a third night to protest the verdict. >> the jury came back with a not guilty. i fell on my knees an cried and then i called my oldest trayvon who is 19 and i said baby where are you? he says i'm at jack? the box. i said get home. that's a shame that we as parents have to tell our kids

to go home because we don't want them to be another trayvon martin. we should not have to live our lives in fear! >> reporter: and we are back live in downtown oakland. you are looking at a trash can fire. the first of the night. that is typically an indication things are going from bad to worse. this is at broadway and telegraph. police have made multiple arrests for a number of things. rocks and bottles thrown at police. vandalism and dangerous dehey your getting on the freeway. they don't know how many more arrests they will make. reporting live, dan kerman, kron 4 news. >> and a woman on the jury in the zimmerman trial is talking publicly about that experience though she chooses not to be identified. she is sharing her views on the trial and the deliberations

that followed. andrew spencer has that story. >> reporter: we don't know her name, but the juror known as b- 37 spoke out. she gave her insights in an interview with cnn on whether race played a role in the death of trayvon martin. ingly don't think it did. i think if there was another person, spanish, white, asian, if they came in the same situation where trayvon was, i think george would have reacted the exact same way. >> reporter: so whose voice did jurors think was on the 911 call last year? >> i think it was george zimmerman. >> did everybody on the jury agree with that? >> all be probably one. >> what made you think it was george zimmerman's voice? >> because of the evidence he was the one that had gotten beaten. >> reporter: the woman, part of an all female six-person jury talked about the prosecution

witness. >> i felt very sorry for her. >> reporter: and that phrase she testified that started with creepy and ended with cracker. >> i don't think it is really racial. i think it is just evidence life. >> reporter: shantell was also on nnn monday saying she didn't think the word cracker was racial. zimmerman was acquitted by the jury of second degree murder and manslaughter charges. the juror saying she plans to write a book. andrew spencer, kron 4 news. there is still no new on a contract. both sides have less than three weeks before a second bart strike is possible. there were talks today. >> with the way things are going because no movement and they refuse to come to the table, you cannot

bargain against yourselves. how can you resolve this when no one wants to come to the table and talk and speak to us? it is almost the same as it was weeks prior to the deadline before. >> and this is video from our partnership with abc7 news. a very jam packed ferry. part of the traffic mess earlier this month when bart employees were on strike for four days. the bay area, they figured, cost the bay area about $73 million. and there has been some criticism of bart's lead negotiator who despite the deadline is taking a planned vacation at the end of the month. the talks do continue tomorrow morning. new information on the double murder at the jewelrymart in san francisco. the suspect is barry white of antioch and he is going to be arraigned tuesday. charged with murdering two sales women. the women have been identified now as 35-year-old ken ma of san francisco and 51-year-old

lina limb of daly city. employees at the jewelrymart are wearing pink ribbons in memory of the victims. the police chief is talking about the motive. >> appears to have been a random act by one person against one business. we have evidence of what his manner was about and it doesn't appear to have been a robbery at this time. >> store employees were assured to be safe. you are looking at the bullet holes from the shooting. the suspect has a criminal record. well temperatures were quite cool out there thanks to the widespread fog moving back in. current concerns, widespread in the 50s . in fact the only place where we are in the 60s right now is antioch at 61 degrees. here is what you can expect

the wreck will become available for more testing. interviews with witnesses continue over the week. the next phase of this investigation will include the evacuation slides. they will take a look at those and a closer look at the plane's performance overall. the july 6 crash killed three people and injured dozens. runway 28 left was reopened friday. coming up in a few minutes, the home run hitting contest in new york had a special oakland as twist. bruce boche named his starting pitcher for the starting game all-star game. and the fellows keep tweeting in professional sports and they shouldn't. that's coming up in sports. a big warmup by the weeks end coming up in just a bit.

>> it has been nearly a week, still no sign of a little girl missing from oakland. the family says daphne viola webb was last seen in her father's suv last wednesday. kron 4's maureen kelly says the family has pinpointed what happened before the crime. >> reporter: you can see daphne's father here in this mug shot before he was released from jail friday night after charges were dropped by the district attorney. police say the reason he was

arrested had nothing to do with the kidnapping but his actions right before leaving his baby girl alone in this vehicle with her grandmother who suffered from dementia. despite the arrest, the police are still in contact with the family and say they were just being diligent. while there were no physical searches monday, investigators are working to gather surveillance video to pin down the time line of when daphne and her father were last seen together. >> we started with the area where the family lives and traced back down to the store where is the 1400ck of 79th avenue. there are various routs, that's a lot of footage, a lot of area to cover. >> reporter: investigators are also looking to talk to witnesses that could help narrow the time line. they are looking for any trace of the possible suspect who was seen walking away from the

crime scene with a small child that could have been daphne. a woman described as black or hispanic in her mid 30s with long black here. maureen kelly, kron 4 news. a jewelry heist in livermore was caught on camera. you see a man smashing the glass there with a sledge hammer and grabbing thins. it happened at the kay jeweler's out let. >> reporter: police say the suspects were in the store here at the outlet for five minutes and i'm told when they walked out, they had more than $100,000 worth of jewelry with them. let's get right over to the video. this was around 3:30 sunday morning. it is just seconds after the thieves busted through the front door using a car. now at first, you can see the three thieves pulling off those sheets that cover up the glass. then this. they pretty much smash every glass case in the store before grabbing the jewelry and

stuffing it into bags. police tell me that the thieves most likely knew exactly what they wanted. >> it was a wide range of jewelry that is normally at kay's. they were selective. they ran by a lot of open cases. the cases they selected they smashed from the side and reached in to grab what was in there. >> reporter: i checked with investigators tonight. they said the suspects were able to escape in a white and tan sudan and a station wagon. reporting, scott rates, kron 4 news. this is a new thing being tested. experts say some day, it might allow wheelchair bound people to walk some day. it straps to the body and makes the sitting person stand. the device will be available if

about two years. it was cool today and temperatures will stay cool tomorrow. below average this ti thanks to the low spread cloud coverage that will be slow to clear. we will get a little less sea breeze influence this week. it will be back into the 90s by thursdayment but here's a look at fog. out the door tomorrow morning, widespread fog in the bay area. a little patchy. it will clear the fastest. it lingers over the north bay through the 8:00 hour, the 10:00 hour, finally peeling back by 1:00. if it lingers a little longer, temperatures there are going to be cooler. let's take a look at future cast 4. 50s to start the day. getting into the 60s and 70s by noon. notice the north bay a little slower to warm. 70s and 80s for the inland valleys. so here is what it looks like

in the south bay. 75 for san jose. for inland valleys, we will see a few low 80s out there. 83 in pittsburgh and pleasantton. no surprise at the coastline with the low cloud coverage, lit be really cool there. these temperatures could be a few degrees cooler if the fog lingers. keep that in mind if you see the fog lingering past 11:00. tomorrow, cool, warmer wednesday and the warming trend continues all the way through saturday. well protesters rallying for trayvon martin again in oakland. you are looking at the scene. police say they have made a number of arrests, not saying how many. at one point, dozens of demonstrators shut down an off ramp of a-80. they are back on the streets of oakland. the crowds are continuing to break up. we will bring you the latest on the kron 4 morning newscast at

center. tonight's all-star game. namely yoenis cespedes did not make the all-star team. he went off in the home contest. had 17 in the first round. that 416 feet. third and final round. bryce harper, second year man from the washington nationals hung real tight with him. but wow. cespedes, 455 feet to win it. 9-8. cespedes receives a new car and of course, a trophy, harper was really dynamic. had his father pitching to him. but four, five, five. he's the first player to ever win the home run derby while not a member of the all-star team. how did he get there? hey. robinson canot, the captain of the new york yankees saying he could do big things.

being charged with first degree murder. they were teammates of hernandez at florida. bottom line, when someone is charged with first degree murder, now is not the time to wear a free hernandez hat. and victor cruz feeling good about himself. just signed a multimillion dollar contract. after the zimmerman decision. he tweeted out, hey, george zimmerman doesn't stand a chance. he won't last more than a year before the people in the hood catch up to him. he later admitted that he was wrong and the fellow you see here, roddy white said all the jurors should go home and kill themselves. he said my tweet was too extreme and i apologize. so you have all these guys. boy, are they good football players, but man oh man. all right.
